Notice Board, Parc yr Ocar

On September 3rd, 2006, we were very pleased to receive a Rural Wales Award from CPRW, the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales, for our management of these woodlands. On that day, a number of members of CPRW walked through the woodlands and joined us afterwards for tea in Y Neuadd Goffa, Mynydd Llandygai.
Mike Bithell has finished the bench at the top of Parc yr Ynys - see above. Other small but important jobs which have improved the walks through the woodland are Mike's steps on the path, the fencing by the bridge from Yr Ocar, the top gate and the fine wooden Notice Boards, which Peter Boyd created for the three main entrances to the woodland; the top two Notice Boards have been up for some time and the bottom Notice Board will be erected once the stone walling is finished, For more detail, please consult the Annual Reports, to which there are links on the Documents page.

Gate at top of Parc yr Ynys

In 2005 there was on the whole great disappointment when the proposal to purchase the shelter strip called Parc Tan y Bwlch had to be abandoned because the Penrhyn Estate had rented it out rather than agreeing to our purchasing it - we had been awarded funds to do so by CydCoed. Other work proceeded, however, including the gate at the top of Parc yr Ynys and the start of the extensive stonewalling project.
Coetir Mynydd sponsored Coed Call to provide woodland themed activities for children at the Antur Mynydd Summer Festival. Funding for this event was provided by: Academi, Tir Coed and Coetir Mynydd. The event was accommodated in the Forestry Commission yurt kindly lent by the Llanwrst area office.
